Reverse osmosis membranes is used widely for brackish water desalination. The brackish water RO membrane is especially more effective when the feed water is within 10,000 ppm of concentration. Because it has high performance rate and chemical persistence, it can be used for a variety of purposes. It is used in producing drinking water, industrial water, pharmaceutical water, waste water treatment and concentration of food/medicine.
Domestic Reverse Osmosis membrane is the answer to acquiring fresh & clean water. Reverse Osmosis(RO) membraneremoves most of chemical & biological contaminants.
There are many famous brands for option: such as the FILMTEC,CSM,FCS,VONTRON. According the water output capacity, the different membrane is available as follows:36GPD,50GPD,75GPD,100GPD.
Let’s face it, countertop reverse osmosis products are heavily advertized and still sell very well so they should be safe to use, right? Well no actually as they have a major inherent flaw due to the fact that they are based on old technology.
That flaw is their semi-permeable membrane.
Water is forced under pressure through this membrane and any molecule larger than waters is prevented from passing. The problem is that in today’s world of prescription drugs, pesticides and herbicides, these contaminants have a smaller molecular size, and so many get through.
The other part of this countertop reverse osmosis membrane flaw is that the essential minerals like calcium and potassium are stripped out, unable to pass through. Even the World Health Organization states that we should all drink water with the vital minerals in. If not we could well become mineral deficient with long term use.
Now I believe any type of filtration these days is better than none at all but that doesn’t excuse these poorly designed and expensive systems in any way, especially as they waste so much water, adding to the environmental cost and your own costs.
I have seen some of these counter top products sell for over $300, which just proves the point that just because a product is more expensive, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better, as some of the best systems go for just over $100.
These cutting edge systems, unlike the countertop reverse osmosis ones, use a multi stage process with an activated carbon filter, ion exchange and sub micron filtering to remove 99% of all the contaminants. However they still leave in the vital minerals!
